Barnstaple, the nearest town to the Red House, is one of the oldest boroughs in the country, having an ancient traditional market. Barnstaple is set on part of the most beautiful coastline in the country. This coastline has golden beaches, picturesque harbours and inviting villages. Visit the renowned fishing village of Clovelly, Barnstaple and its traditional market, Lynton and Lynmouth, Exmoor, Valley of Rocks, Bideford, Torrington - where there is Rosemoor Garden and Dartington Glass. Then there are the sandy beaches at Instow, Saunton, Croyde Bay and Woolacombe. All of the above being within short driving distance. |

| It is a very unique
village built on a 400 ft cliff with a cobbled street leading to the
14th century village with a pretty harbour. On route to Clovelly visitors
should take time to visit Bucks Mill, a quaint village lost in time.
Also a visit to Hartland and Hartland Quay is recommended for the scenery. Or if you fancy a trip to another Island you could catch the ferry over to the small island of Lundy, which on a clear day can be seen from The Red House. |
